Glass vs. display
This is the part a quote-and-go shop won't explain.
Standard iPads (1 through 11) have the glass and display as separate layers
If the display underneath is still intact, only the glass needs replacing — less expensive than a full screen swap.
iPad Air (Air 2 and newer), iPad mini (mini 4 and newer), and all iPad Pro models have the glass and display fused together
A cracked front means the assembly has to come apart. Most shops replace the whole thing with an aftermarket panel. The problem with that: aftermarket glass doesn't always work properly with Apple Pencil — the sensitivity is off.
ubrokeit refurbishes the original Apple display in-house. If it has no lines, blotches, or blemishes, new glass gets fused back onto it. Your original display goes back in. Pencil works normally. If touch is also failing, the digitizer layer can be replaced during the same process — that's a separate line item on the quote.
One more honest note: the frame has to be true
A bent iPad frame will crack a new screen. Before the glass goes in, the frame gets checked and straightened if needed.

First thing I check on a cracked iPad is whether the display underneath still works — that's the difference between a glass repair and a full assembly, and a real difference in price. On the fused models, I'm also looking at whether the original display is in good enough condition to refurbish. I tell you what I find before anything gets started.

- Can you replace just the glass on a fused display model?
- Yes. If the original Apple display is in good condition, ubrokeit refurbishes it in-house and fuses new glass back onto it. You keep your original display — which matters if you use Apple Pencil, since aftermarket panels don't always handle Pencil input correctly.
- Why does an iPad screen cost more than a phone screen?
- Larger part, and on fused models the glass and display have to be carefully separated rather than just swapped out. The refurbishing process takes more time than a straight replacement.
- My replaced screen cracked again — why?
- Usually a bent frame. A thin iPad chassis that isn't sitting true will stress a new screen until it cracks. The frame gets checked and straightened before anything goes in.
- Do you do board-level repair on iPads?
- Yes. Charging issues, backlight failures, water damage — if it's component-level work, it gets done in-house.
- Is my older iPad worth fixing?
