How ubrokeit handles your information
Short version: ubrokeit collects what it needs to do your repair and reach you, and nothing it doesn't. Your information is never sold or rented to anyone. The full picture is below.
What ubrokeit collects
The details you give when you book or come in
When you book online, call, email, or walk in, ubrokeit takes down what it needs to handle the repair:
- How to reach you. Your name, and a phone number or email so ubrokeit can talk to you about the repair.
- The device and the problem. What you're bringing in and what's wrong with it, so the right part can be ordered and the work quoted.
- A shipping address, for mail-in only. If you're sending a device in, the address it ships back to.
That's the whole list. There's no account to create, and ubrokeit doesn't ask for anything it isn't going to use.
Where it goes
What ubrokeit does with it
Booking requests come in through a secure online form and reach ubrokeit by email. The details stay on file for one reason: to do the repair, reach you about it, and have a record if you ever come back under the lifetime warranty.
ubrokeit doesn't sell, rent, or trade your information, and it never goes to advertisers. Parts are ordered by model number, so ordering the part for your repair doesn't involve sharing anything about you. The only services that handle your booking are the form and email tools that deliver it to ubrokeit.
Your device
The data on your device during a repair
Some repairs need the device to power on and unlock so the fix can be tested, so ubrokeit may ask for your passcode. When that happens, it's used only to check that the repair worked. ubrokeit doesn't go through your photos, messages, or files, and doesn't copy anything off the device.
Every repair is done in-house at the West LA shop. Your device doesn't go anywhere else, and it's handed back to you when the work is finished.
If you'd rather, back up your device first and remove the screen lock when the repair allows it. Either way, ubrokeit will tell you exactly what the repair needs before touching anything. For the longer answer on what a technician can and can't see, there's a plain guide: can a repair technician access your data?
This website
Cookies and analytics
This site is built to be light and to leave you alone. It doesn't set advertising cookies, and it doesn't track you from one site to the next.
For its own numbers, ubrokeit uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics: a count of how many people visit and which pages get read, in aggregate. No cookies, no fingerprinting, and nothing that identifies you personally.
The one outside piece is the map on the contact page. It loads Google Maps only after you click it, so Google isn't contacted until you ask to see the map.
Your choices
Seeing, fixing, or removing your information
It's your information. You can ask what ubrokeit has on file, correct it, or have it removed. Booking and repair records are kept while they're useful for warranty and service history; past that, ask and they'll be cleared.
To make any of those requests, or if you just have a question about this page, reach ubrokeit at (310) 743-6000 or repairs@ubrokeit.biz.
Why it reads this way
Straight from Gregory
People hand me their phones and laptops, and those are full of their whole lives. I treat that the way I'd want mine treated. I get into a device only as far as the repair needs, I don't snoop, and nothing goes out the door to anyone.
You don't have to take that on faith. Ask me anything about what I keep or what I can see on your device, and you'll get a straight answer.
