First thing I tell anyone who brings in a Surface: the screen is glued down. That means before I can get to a battery, a port, anything — I'm heating that display and separating it. Carefully. That's not optional, that's just how the machine is built.
Some models are worth the labor. Some aren't, and I'd rather say that upfront than have someone spend money chasing a repair that doesn't make sense. Either way, you hear that before anything comes apart.
